Equip. Adapt. Execute.
Master the Device Bay system in Starlorn.
In Starlorn: Rise of the Awakened, your ship isn't just a flying hunk of metal, it’s a modular platform powered by Devices, specialized tools and systems that define what you can do out in the stars.

Want to scan an asteroid for rare minerals? Launch a boarding pod? Jam enemy comms? Cloak your ship?
If there’s a Device for it (and there probably will be) you can do it.

Your ship comes with a limited number of Device Bays, each one holding up to 10 Devices. Only one bay can be active at a time, and the devices in that bay are what define your available abilities in the moment.
- Combat Bays might contain shield boosters, missile launchers, and energy dampeners.
- Trade Bays might be filled with price analyzers, stealth cargo pods, and hyper-jump timers.
- Explorer Bays could focus on scanning, hacking, or stealth-based navigation.

Need to switch from mining to fighting mid-mission? Swap your active bay in real-time! The right prep gives you the edge.

Devices can be damaged, and damaged devices might malfunction when used; sometimes hilariously, sometimes catastrophically.
Take them to the Galactic Teamsters at any major port to get them patched up before they blow out your life support.

All Devices come from the mysterious vendor known only as Tech Magic. Hundreds are available (and more are coming), with synergies, quirks, and even lore baked into their designs.
More in-depth device information:
Devices are somewhat the heart of your Warship. Devices are what makes your ship unique and adds capabilities your fellow captains might not have. Eventually, the plan is to have hundreds of devices to choose from.
Device Bay Arrays
These are required in order to have devices on your ship. You get one of these with your warship. You can only have 1 device bay active at a time, and each array can only hold 10 devices. Choose your loadouts carefully, you never know what you're going to encounter in space...
Passive Devices
These types of devices are always functioning (as long as they are in the active device bay array)
Active Devices
These types of devices are dormant until you actually use them. You can use them by double clicking on the device in your active device bay array. This will bring up a menu specialized for that device.
Device Damage
There are various times that devices on your ship can take damage. You can see that a device is damaged in your active device bay as there will be an * next to the device. To see how much damage the device has taken, view all of your ships devices in the Ship's Computer -> Device Configuration.
Device damage is displayed as a percentage of damage. That is, if your device has 23 damage, there is a 23% chance that that device will fail when used.
When a Device Bay Array takes damage, all devices assigned to that Device Bay Array, have effectively taken that damage, so its wise to get repairs done as quickly as possible (or swap devices to another device bay array, etc.).
Example: Your device bay array assigned to bay 2 has taken 25 damage. When any device in device bay 2 is used, they will automatically have a 25% chance of failure. If the device itself also has taken damage (let's say 10 damage), then when that specific device is used, there is a 35% chance of failure (the 25% from the damaged Device Bay Array, and the 10% from the device itself).
