I have been using 7D2D RAT for a while now and I have a few questions. Let me tell you about my setup so you get the full picture.

I rent a remote full dedicated server (machine) where I host a few other games on the same machine. Everything is running fine including my 7D2D server.

All of the game servers I host were manually installed and configured via the normal SteamCMD and the provided game files needed including my 7D2D server.

Any changes or modifications that are needed I can access remotely with full root access to the entire machine, OS and game servers with no limitations.

I use 7D2D RAT remotely for convenience (from another PC) to access my 7D2D server under the “Remote” tab and it has been working great!

However, I’m not sure if I can use any of the features provided in the “Server Settings” tab like (Server Configuration, Connections, Game Settings-1, Game Settings-2, Backup/Restore, and Health Checks).

Do I need to have 7D2D RAT installed in the actual server where my 7D2D game server is located and running in order to properly use them? And would I have to also set up my 7D2D server via the “Server Settings” tabs control panel along with checking off the “Enable Local Server” box?

If so, I don’t mind doing this. I just wanted to get clarification. And when I do this will I still be able to run 7D2D RAT from my other remote PC to remotely access my game server like I have been doing?

Thanks for the help!

I am pretty sure you do have to have it on the server to configure that part as it writes the serverconfig.xml file etc to your dedicated server directory

Hey there. If your server is remote, then you don't use any of the settings under the server settings tab. RAT would have to be installed on the same device as the server.

What OS are you using on this server?

I have been using 7D2D RAT for a while now and I have a few questions. Let me tell you about my setup so you get the full picture.

So, as mentioned, the stuff on the server config tab means that you'd have to be running RAT on the same machine as your game server to use any of those features.

If you want to also run RAT from your local PC to do normal admin stuff, you can do that too, but make sure you use "File -> Rat Client Mode". What that does is makes it so your RAT doesn't listen to events, but the one running on the server will. This way the same event won't happen multiple times.

Hi TREKKAN,

I do not see the "Rat Client Mode" under the "File" tab in the main window. Am I looking in the right place?

Also I'm a little confused on the latest Rat version I should be running.

The latest one I see (by updated date 11-30-2019) is the "7D2D RAT ALPHA --64 BIT 2040" then below that one I see "RAT 2040 Hotfix" with a updated date of (11-29-2019) a day before,

But while reading the install instructions for the "Hotfix" it tells me that I need "requires primary RAT 2.0.4.0 installed first" is this referring to the one above it "7D2D RAT ALPHA --64 BIT 2040"?

It confuses me because again the "Hotfix" is a day older than the latest one "7D2D RAT ALPHA --64 BIT 2040".

Thanks again for a great admin tool and all your help!

Download the HOTFIX. =) What you're seeing as far as those dates go, are not actual release dates of software, but the last time the "resource" had an update "posted" to it. If you click on it, you'll see the last update on the 2040 version, is simply a message from me saying to also download the HOTFIX. =)
